About .rs
Compare offers for the same whole-year term: .rs registration runs from 1 to 10 years, and renewal cannot take the total beyond ten years. Only the current RNIDS-accredited registrar can renew it; the registry does not handle direct renewals.
Domestic and foreign individuals and legal entities qualify. Registrar transfers are supported but do not add a year. A change of registrant is requested through the registrar and normally processed immediately, with a maximum of 60 days after a valid application.
Rules and registration
Who can register
Registration through an RNIDS-accredited registrar; at least two valid DNS servers must be provided for the domain to become active.
Restrictions
The .rs second level is open to everyone. The second-level spaces .co.rs, .org.rs, .edu.rs and .in.rs are intended for specific registrant categories (legal entities, organizations, educational institutions, natural persons); .ac.rs and .gov.rs are delegated to other bodies. RNIDS reserves names of Serbian towns and cities, public institutions and government bodies.
Registration
Registration is done exclusively through RNIDS-accredited registrars. Open to natural persons and legal entities, domestic and foreign. Registration period is 1 to 10 years, in whole years. Registration of .rs domain names opened on 10 March 2008.
Renewal
Renewal is done exclusively through the current accredited registrar; RNIDS cannot renew directly. Renewal is possible before expiry, but the total registration period may not exceed 10 years. RNIDS processes renewals immediately as a rule, and no later than 3 working days after receiving the request from the registrar.
Transfers
The registrant may change the accredited registrar following the approved procedure described in the RNIDS Registration Procedures. A change of registrant is requested through the accredited registrar and is carried out immediately as a rule, or at the latest within 60 days of receiving a valid application.
Name rules
Letters a-z, digits 0-9, hyphens and the extended Latin letters listed in the RNIDS character table (IDN); each label 2-63 ASCII characters after ACE (punycode) encoding; must not start or end with a hyphen; must not have hyphens in the 3rd and 4th positions.
Good to know
Extended Latin IDNs have been supported since 10 December 2018; .срб is a separate RNIDS top-level domain. At least two valid DNS servers are required for activation, and registrant data must be confirmed within 20 days afterwards.
